Premier's China Trade Mission Delivers for Tasmanian Antarctic sector
Richard Fader, Chairman of the Tasmanian Polar Network, said that the recently held Premier's trade Mission to China has delivered outstanding opportunities for growth in the Tasmanian Antarctic Sector.
Highly successful meetings were held between the Tasmanian delegation and the Chinese Arctic and Antarctic Administration (CAA) and the Polar Research Institute of China (PRIC), resulting in confirmation of the intention of the Chinese Icebreaker XueLong to call to Hobart twice during the 2018-19 Antarctic season.

New Runway to support science and research in East Antarctica
the Tasmanian Polar Network welcomes the announcement of a new paved runway to be built near Davis research station in Antarctica.
The 2700m long runway will be located near Davis research station, which is almost 5000 kilometers from Hobart. Davis Research station is currently on accessible during the Australian summer by icebreaker or via internal flights using small aircraft, which have constraints and challenges.
